About SSPL
Board of Directors
SSPL is governed by a community Board of Directors who set policy, approve budgets, and represent the public interest in library service across the South Shore.
Governance
The Board sets policy, approves the annual operating budget, and oversees long-term planning for SSPL’s five locations and the Bookmobile. Board members are appointed by the municipalities SSPL serves — the Towns of Bridgewater, Lunenburg, and Mahone Bay, the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg, and the Region of Queens Municipality.
Day-to-day operations are led by the Library Director and branch staff. The Director reports to the Board and is the primary liaison between staff and governance.
Meeting schedule
The Board meets approximately every two months. Meetings are open to the public; the agenda and minutes are posted under Policies & Governance once approved.
Patrons wishing to address the Board are asked to contact the Library Director at info@ssplibraries.ca at least seven days before the next scheduled meeting.
Board roster + minutes
The full current Board roster, approved meeting minutes, and bylaws will be published here in structured form with the production site launch. Until then, requests for specific minutes can be sent to info@ssplibraries.ca.
